Coimbatore: With various programs on child nutrition and hygiene are being held across the country to observe 'National Nutrition Month,' over 600 participants took part in the 'National Nutrition Month' awareness program in the city.
Coimbatore: With various programs on child nutrition and hygiene are being held across the country to observe 'National Nutrition Month,' over 600 participants took part in the 'National Nutrition Month' awareness program in the city.
Every year, the month of September is observed as the 'National Nutrition Month' nationwide and it is celebrated this year under the 'Poshan Abhiyaan' scheme in Coimbatore. A team comprising of staff from Integrated Child Development Services and Nutrition held a public awareness program on various issues including child development, diarrohea, hygiene issues and anaemia at the District Collectorate.
The program aimed to help toward making Tamil Nadu a state that is free of malnutrition. Many took part in the awareness program.
An awareness rally on the same was led by the District Revenue Officer, Ramadurai Murugan which commenced from the District Collector's Office and ended at the VOC grounds. During the rally, over 600 people held placards and banners to raise awareness on malnutrition and allergies that affect children.
The staff of the Department of Nutrition also performed the traditional 'Kummiadi' as part of the awareness program.
