Advocates protest demanding removal of Article 41B; Condemn appointment of judges from other states

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu-Puducherry joint group of lawyers staged a protest in front of the Court today condemning Article 41B that has been imposed by the Central Government permitting regional traffic officials to file cases against people for violating traffic rules and causing accidents.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu-Puducherry joint group of lawyers staged a protest in front of the Court today condemning Article 41B that has been imposed by the Central Government permitting regional traffic officials to file cases against people for violating traffic rules and causing accidents.

During the demonstration led by the District President Nandakumar, the protesters chanted slogans urging the withdrawal of Article 41B. Addressing the media, Nandakumar said, "When Tamil lawyers themselves are finding it difficult to argue cases, having judges of other States appointed to pass judgement will be a big loss for those involved in cases that seek the Court's help to settle the matter or demand justice."
