Tirupur: Police arrested two impersonators who impersonated themselves as Labour department officials and tried to extort money from the owners of a knitwear companies in Tiruppur
Tirupur: Police arrested two impersonators who impersonated themselves as Labour department officials and tried to extort money from the owners of a knitwear companies in Tirupur.

The Police identified the fraudsters as Kumar (45) from Sivagangai and Murugan (60) from Kanyakumari, and seized Rs 84,000 cash, two mobile phones and a car from them.
According to Police, the two impersonators had identified themselves as Labour Department Officers and have demanded money from various knitwear companies in P.N Road, Boyampalayam, South Pichampalayam, Bharathi Nagar and other areas in Tirupur.

When the duo was "inspecting” a hosiery unit in Bharathi Nagar the owner grew suspicious of their credentials and duly informed the Anuperpalayam police.
In the meanwhile, the members of the public joined hands and prevented the duo form escaping from the scene. They were duly handed over Anuperpalayam police.
The arrested duo have been produced in court and remanded in custody.
