Addressing the media, Balachandran said that due to overlapping circulation in Southern Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Northern Tamil Nadu, major parts of the Northern Tamil Nadu region experienced heavy rainfall and Southern Tamil Nadu got moderate rainfall.
He stated that over the next 24 hours, some parts of Northern Tamil Nadu and a few areas in Southern Tamil Nadu would experience moderate rain. "Heavy downpours can be expected in Thiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Kanchipuram, Tirupur, Theni, Dindigul, Trichy, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Salem," he added.
The Director of Chennai Meteorological Centre also warned that rains would continue over the next 2 to 3 days in Tamil Nadu.
