Presided over by the District Collector K Rajamani, welfare schemes worth about Rs. 14, 67,263 lakhs were distributed to as many as 341 beneficiaries on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the District collector said "The Tamil Nadu Government has come up with many beneficial schemes for the benefit of the people when the officials themselves meet people in person rather than keeping them waiting. The Government has also ensured that people are made aware of the schemes by constantly approaching the public in all rural and remote areas. 'Manuneethi Mugam' thus helps in bridging the gap between officials and people".
Public grievances are addressed through “Manuneethi Mugam” once a month in all the rural areas headed by the District Collector in the presence of officials from various Departments, to address people's welfare.
Petitions were received from people 15 days prior to the camp and on the day of “Manuneethi Mugam”, the Collector handed over 1000 petitions to the concerned officials for immediate action.
These camps are being organised to enable Government schemes to reach people in the most remote of villages.
“Many Government schemes are aimed for the welfare of people in the lower economic strata of society. The schemes include old age pension, farmer's protection scheme, and gold for wedding, the Muthulaksmi Reddy maternity scheme and a two-wheeler scheme for working women” the collector noted.
Welfare schemes worth about Rs. 2, 40,000 under various schemes including r old age pension was distributed to 20 beneficiaries, and Rs. 6, 30,000 worth welfare scheme were distributed to 252 beneficiaries as a solatium for natural death, 95,000 to 19 beneficiaries as compensation for natural disasters. Rs. 45,117 worth iron box to 9 beneficiaries, Rs. 7,146 worth sewing machine to 2 beneficiaries.
While Family card was distributed to 5 beneficiaries, Pattas were distributed to 4 and free plots registration worth Rs.4, 50,000 were given to 3 beneficiaries and 27 beneficiaries were given their community certificate.
Thus a total of Rs. 14, 67,263 worth schemes were distributed to 351 beneficiaries on “Manuneethi Mugam”.
The District Revenue Officer Ramathurai Murugan, MLA Kasthurivasu, District Forest Official Marimuthu, Divisional Revenue Officer Ravikumar, Deputy Commissioner Kalaivani, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation Manager Menaka, Tamil Nadu Rural Livelihood (Women), Selvaraj, Deputy Director (Health) Banumathi, Social Welfare Officer Thangamani, Minorities Welfare Officer Prabakaran, District Distribution officer Kumaresan, Thasildhar Venkatachalam and other officials were present.
