Tirupur : Police arrested over 80 farmers who were protesting in front of the District Collectorate in Tirupur by resorting to burning the copies of "The Indian Telegraph Act 1885".

Around 80 farmers were protesting against the Power Grid Corporation for setting up High tension lines cutting through farmlands that affect their livelihood.
The protesters demanded to enact a new law that protects the welfare of the farmers and to pay proper compensation to the farmers who have been affected by the Installation of such towers. The farmers demanded that the police withdraw cases slapped against them.
