Coimbatore : The DMK cadres led by their MLA Karthik protested in Tatabad against the Tamil Nadu Government's decision to conduct Baord examinations for students of Classes 5 and 8.
In the National Educational Policy draft released by the Centre a few months ago, there was a clause which stated that public examinations will be conducted for students of Classes 5 and 8. While no other State Government has implemented the National Policy draft, the decision of the TN Government to implement the public examinations for the 5th and 8th grade students has created an uproar across Tamil Nadu. Several protests are being staged in various parts of the State.
As part of these protests, DMK cadres too raised slogans against the Government in Tatabad demanding that the decision to conduct public examinations ought to be withdrawn. "Do not torture young minds in the name of examinations. If the Government does not withdraw the order immediately, DMK will gather students across Tamil Nadu and conduct a massive protest condemning the TN Government's decision," warned the protesters.
