Despite protests by the farmers against installing high voltage lines through farmlands, the government kicked started the process of laying electric lines at several locations including Thappagundu to Anikadavu, Anikadavu to Rasipalayam and Arasur to Ingur.
In this scenario, Traffic Ramasamy cited that there is no provision in the law for Police officials to conduct land surveys. Hence, he condemned the District Collector, K. Rajamani for permitting the police to conduct survey on farmlands, without permission.
While addressing the press he said, "Police department are continuing to anguish the farmers and are not abiding by the law. There is no law that permits one to conduct surveys without permission. The ruling government which pays no heed to laws is sure to face downfall."
