Chennai : Lambasting the Tamil Nadu Government for its announcement to conduct public examinations for classes 5 and 8, Seeman, President of 'Naam Tamilar' party said “let the Ministers sit for these Board exams first and pass it before asking the young students to undergo the ordeal.”
Speaking to the media, Seeman termed the decision as “premature” and “outright violence” perpetrated on young students of impressionable age groups.
He bewailed the fact that the decision is taken without any consultation with educationists and stake holders in the state.
“Why such a hurry to implement it, when other states are not doing it as the New Education Policy is only in a draft stage?" Seeman demanded to know.
“The power is vested in the hands of those who don’t even understand what education is all about” Seeman slammed.
While taking a dig at the Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy for not able to read out even a city name such as Los Angeles from a draft he was reading out recently, Seeman said and recalled Plato’s words “If you forsake politics, the power will be in wrong hands” to drive home his point.
