Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, it is found that a 14 member gang had murdered and buried a person in the forest area of Mettupalayam, while trying to extort money from him.
Coimbatore : In a tragic incident, it is found that a 14 member gang had murdered and buried a person in the forest area of Mettupalayam, while trying to extort money from him.
The accused have been identified as the gang who released video of cutting birthday cakes using machetes and sickels. Upon investigation, three members of the gang who have been arrested have revealed of abducting a man from KG Chavady and killed him, while attempting to extort money.

The arrested have also confessed of burying the deceased in the forest area in Mettupalayam, six months ago. The Police are on the look out for others.
The police have identified the deceased as Maarimuthu from KG Chavady who went missing six months ago. And, a missing complaint has been registered by his mother at KG Chavady police station.

Maarimuthu had been living with his mother in KG Chavady here. Around six months back, his mother filed a complaint with the KG Chavady police stating that Marimuthu who left to work did not return home.
It is alleged that Maarimuthu in a greed to lead a luxurious life had involved himself in several illegal activities. A notorious gang who had been spying his activities, planned to abduct him to extort money
Around six months back, the gang kidnapped Maarimuthu from Nachipalayam area to Kovilpalayam and thrashed him to exhort money. As Maarimuthu denied to surrender to their plan and he screamed for help, the gang took him to a forest region near Kumaran Kundru near MTP and thrashed him using deadly weapons. As Maarimuthu succumbed, they buried him in the forest and fled.
Police arrested Sundarajan, Ishwar, Palani (a) Palanivel and investigated them found the spot where Maarimuthu's body was buried.
The corpse was retrieved on Monday in the presence of Annur Thasildhar and government doctors who carried out a post mortem.
Upon orders by Superindentent of Police Sujit Kumar, two special teams have been formed to nab the remaining 11 accused.
