Coimbatore : At the Grievance Day meeting held at the District Collectorate, the Makkal Padhai organisation's members submitted a petition to remove flag poles in public places that were erected without permission.
They alleged that it had become routine for anyone to place ad banners across the city, in any area. They complained that a case is filed on such defaulters but no action is taken thereon.
They also alleged that the banners have been removed in a hurry to enforce a court contempt case but the poles used to erect the banners have been left behind causing inconvenience to the public. In the Gandhipuram area, a person was killed when a flag pole slanted over an electric wire. The petitioners have thus requested the district administration to take steps to remove these hazardous flag poles to prevent any further untoward accidents in the future.
