Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) President Kamal Hasan has condemned the idea proposed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah of 'One Nation with Hindi as National language'.
The MNM President released a video in his social media page strongly voicing against the provoking statement issued by the Home Minister on Hindi Diwas day by imposing Hindi and giving it a paramount place amongst other regional languages.
“The unity in diversity is a promise made when India became Republic” Kamal says in his video and continues to stress “We respect all languages but our Mother language would be Tamil.”
"Jallikattu protests were just the tip of an iceberg and more vigorous protests would be witnessed, if Hindi is imposed in any form on Tamil Nadu” Kamal thundered in the video.
"Despite language barriers, people even in Tamil Nadu sing the National anthem which is scripted in Bengali with utmost pride. Thanks to Rabindranath Tagore for his National anthem in which every region and language is eulogized in the song", he recalled.
The actor turned politican ended his video with the Bharathiyar's song “Vazhiya Senthamil, Vazhga Nattramil, Vazhiya Bharatha Manithiru Nadu”.
