The Nilgiris : The 126th Conference of United Planter's Association of South India (UPASI) was held at Glenview, Coonoor on Saturday. During the conference, owners of private tea factories were honoured with the Golden Leaf award for the producing quality tea leaves.
The Nilgiris : The 126th Conference of United Planter's Association of South India (UPASI) was held at Glenview, Coonoor on Saturday. During the conference, owners of private tea factories were honoured with the Golden Leaf award for the producing quality tea leaves.
The Golden Leaf Award was bestowed to industries including Kodanadu estates, for quality.
Ramesh Chand, Member, NITI Aayog who presented the award at the ceremony, said, "About 40% of the tea powder produced in India are exported. While there are numerous varieties of tea leaves abroad, around 35 types of tea powder varieties are produced in India."
He said that tea factories in Nilgiris have won several awards for manufacturing quality tea powder. The conference was attended by tea plantation owners from various states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
