Coimbatore : In a bizarre incident that has interested herpetologists and snake lovers here, a three feet Albino White Indian spectacled Cobra was rescued from a construction site at Kuniyamuthur and was released inside the Madukkarai Reserve Forest, on Sunday.
Coimbatore : In a bizarre incident that has interested herpetologists and snake lovers here, a three feet Albino White Indian spectacled Cobra was rescued from a construction site at Kuniyamuthur and was released inside the Madukkarai Reserve Forest, on Sunday.
According to locals, they had spotted the snake in one of the pits dug for laying basement for a construction at Idayarpalayam in Kuniyamuthur. They immediately informed Sanjay, a snake rescuer from Puliyakulam who arrived at the spot with his kit.
Sanjay used a ladder to get into the pit and lifted the snake up using a snake handler. The snake was carefully put inside a bag and was later released at the Mattathukkadu forest in Madukkarai Range.
Claiming that this was the first time encounter with an albino snake, Sanjay said that such sightings are very rare in the snake kingdom.
“I have been rescuing snakes for 12 years and have rescued more than 6000 snakes including 3000 poisonous snakes. Bilut, I've never encountered an albino cobra, such as these,” he said.
The pictures of the white cobra are becoming viral in social media.
