In a felicitation function organised on behalf of the West Zone Fire and Rescue Servcies Department, the DGP said that “the Motto of the Fire Department is "Our duty is to protect".
“Apart from extinguishing the fire, the firefighters have excelled in various rescue operations. People who are benefited by the firefighters will know the value of it. The firefighters have performed various heroic acts in the areas of Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Tirupur, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Nilgiris in the past year” he noted
“The firefighters who have performed a commendable job in the west zone during recent floods and rainfall affected areas, landslides, floods, the tree falls on the roads in the Nilgiris district.
Apart from this, they have done a commendable job in rescue operations in the recent rains in Coimbatore, floods in River Noyyal and River Bhavani and the Vellalore dump yard fire incident” the DGP noted
About 20 students who have participated in an essay contest on "Accident-free Diwali” by the Fire and Rescue Department were given prizes on the occasion.
