Minister S.P Velumani later taking part in a function at the Tribal Cultural Center distributed vegetable seeds, which can be cultivated in 2500 hectare agricultural land and Kamala Orange saplings that can be cultivated in 250 hectares of land to the farmers.

Later he distributed free laptops and bicycles to the school students and laid the foundation stones for the apartment complex.

Addressing the media the minister said that the Election Commission (EC) of India had filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the local bodies’ elections and the State Government would extend all the assistance to the EC on its part.

He noted that the Tamil Nadu Government is the only State Government in India to extend loan assistance to the Women self-help groups in such as scale and the State Government has established all the necessary projects and schemes, which would be beneficial for the next 50 years.

He added that he would urge the Chief Minister for the establishment of Government Medical College in Ooty.
"Many developmental projects are being implemented as Nilgiris is the home town of late J. Jayalalithaa, the stalwart of AIADMK" the minister noted.
