Chennai : The DMK party chief, M K Stalin warned his partry cadres not to erect banners or hoardings for any of the DMK party meetings hereon and reiterated that if they did not adhere to that rule, he would not attend those meetings.

In his announcement, M K Stalin clarified that one or two banners with prior permission and keeping in mind the safety of the public can be fixed for advertising purposes. "But, erecting banners and hoardings all over the place and thereby causing disturbance and danger to motorists and public is not acceptable. Strict action will be taken against DMK party cadre who fails to follow this instruction," he added.

This announcement was made after a tragic accident in Chennai on Thursday in which Subhasri Ravi, a 23-year-old software engineer was crushed to death by a water tanker at Pallikarnai in Chennai. She was thrown off her scooter on her way back home when suddenly an illegal hoarding erected on the road's divider fell on her and then hit by a water tanker. The illegal hoarding was reportedly erected as part of wedding celebrations of the AIADMK functionary's son on the Pallavaram-Thoraipakam radial road.
