Coimbatore : Addressing the media at the BJP office in Gandhipuram, the BJP State General Secretary, Vanathi Srinivasan said, "Our party members are intensely involved in party elections to be held in every regional office across the State.

Senior party leaders have been assigned to hold meetings to explain about the removal of Article 370 to the public and our party members will explain to the public in every street about why Article 370 was scrapped in Kashmir."

She also added that as part of the birthday celebrations of PM Modiji on September 17, the 'service week' has been organised where social service activities like medical camp, awareness about plastic, welfare services for the differently abled, tree planting and more will be held.

"The election to select the State Secretary will be held in the first week of November. There are also chances of announcing the State President ahead of the planned date. But this will not be a hindrance to the election work underway. There are 15 shortlisted candidates for the State President post," said the BJP State General Secretary.

Commenting on the slowdown of the economy, Vanathi Srinivasan said, "Industrial associations have not reported any serious economic depression. They have just temporarily stopped production during nights. Various associations are creating panic by spreading rumours of economic downfall. It has only been stated that the dip in economy of international markets may affect India. It is believed that in a matter of 20 days there are also chances of a rebound.

I am not denying the slowdown of business in industries but just want to clarify that measures are being taken to rectify that in industries like sugar refineries, to help them cope during the economic slowdown. Talks are also on about reducing GST for job order by 5 percent as requested by small industries. The Centre will soon announce a positive update on the same," she added.
