Codissia is to organize “Raw Mat India 2019”, an expo for raw materials, consumables and services needed for MSME industries of all sectors.

The Expo will be held at Codissia Trade fairgrounds between September 18th and 20th.

Briefing the media on the occasion, R.Ramamurthy, President of Codissia said, “Raw Mat is the first of its kind expo in the country. CODISSIA is organizing this expo as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the body.

“RAW MAT will be extremely useful for MSME industries in this region because of raw material sourcing has always been an issue given the volatile nature of the raw material prices. We have 86 companies participating in the event from all over the country with one company from South Korea" he said

“Due to the slowdown in economy MSMEs in Coimbatore are going through a crisis which we expect to revive in a few months’ time. Even otherwise, MSMEs from our region find it very difficult to be competitive due to the fluctuations in raw material pricing.”

“Raw material market is a volatile market. Benchmarking of raw material price is important since we MSMEs are at a loss when prices go up suddenly" added CODISSIA president.

When a question was raised about Vedanta group being the principal sponsor for the event ,  CODISSIA president replied  “ Only products from other group companies of Vedanta are participating and Sterlite Copper is not a part of this event. Even in the past when there were requests from Sterlite, CODISSIA never encouraged the company. Since the Vedanta group has other units manufacturing Aluminium and ZInc they are participating in RAW MAT “.

Briefing about the expo, B.Senthil Kumar, Chairman, RAW MAT stated that this expo would benefit industries of all sectors.

“A range of industries including automobiles, textile, engineering, foundry & agriculture would be benefitted. For the Defense industry, we have companies producing raw materials participating in the expo. This would benefit the MSME industries here which are in Defense products and accessories manufacturing. We expect about 10,000 visitors and business turnover of about Rs. 150 Crores, during the three days of the fair".

P.Udayakumar, Functional director, NSIC, Government of India will be the Chief Guest for the inauguration event.
