Coimbatore : Police Inspector Senthil Kumar who had seized two country-made pistols from a migrant worker from Rajasthan who was residing in Sukrawarpet, has been transferred for dereliction of duty in failing to report the incident to his higher-ups.

The police officer has been transferred to the Control Room as part of the disciplinary action initiated against him.
Earlier on, following a complaint by Bhavani Singh's roommates, the Police Inspector confiscated the pistols from Bhavani Singh who had earlier been working in a plywood shop in R S Puram for the past 10 years. However, having left his job a couple of months back, Bhavani Singh who was seeking a new job temporarily stayed with his friends in Sukrawarpet.
His roommates grew suspicious when they saw Bhavani Singh hiding something in his bag and later found out there were pistols. They immediately informed the police and the Variety Hall Police Station team reached the spot and confiscated a country-made pistol and two bullets from Bhavani Singh's bag. The police also seized a second pistol which was found in his possession but Bhavani Singh escaped the police dragnet. Police are on the lookout for him and are trying to trace where the pistols had come from.
