Coimbatore : Just ahead of Navaratri celebrations, the District Collector K Rajamani inaugurated the special sale of 'Golu Dolls' at the Tamilnadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Coimbatore branch, popularly known as Poompuhar. He was accompanied by the Poompuhar Manager, Narendra Bose.

Poompuhar is well known for its festive exhibitions every year. This year, the management has come up with 'Golu Dolls,' an exhibition-cum-sale of 'Golu' dolls in keeping with the festive season of Navaratri. The exhibition is to be held from September 9 to 12, from 10 am to 8 pm, including Sundays at the Poompuhar sales showroom, 1239 Big Bazaar Street, Coimbatore.
The exhibition will showcase handicraft dolls, Athivaradar dolls, Ashtalakhsmi Dasavatharam, Ramar set, Marriage doll set, Kadothkajan set, Bhagtha Prahaladha Patabhishekha set, Krishnalelai set, Gopiyar set, Jala kreedai, Rangamanar, Ulagalantha Perumal, Ragu Kedhu set, Kavadi set, Lakshmi Narasimhar set, Alwar set, Gajendra Moksham, Arupadai veedu, Dakshinamoorthy, Kamakshi Pooja, Singaraja, Ovvaiyar, Guruvayurappan, Geethapadhesam, Cricket set, Uriyadi, Park set, Uzhavan set, Tank set, Poi Kaal Kudhirai set, Kacheri set, Chota Bheem set, Temple and house sets, Golu decorative items, Golu steps and various other gift items. These 'Golu' dolls were brought in from across Tamil Nadu, Andhra (Kondapalli and Ettikuppa Wooden doll), Karnataka, Kolkata, Rajasthan, New Delhi, Pune, Pondicherry and other places.
The exhibition showcases a variety of dolls and are being sold at a discount of 10 percent. The estimated sale is expected to be about Rs.55 lakhs. This exhibition is organised to empower the livelihood of craftsmen hence the Poompuhar management has requested the public to purchase dolls this Navaratri season from the Poompuhar sales showroom.
