According to sources, the TTE had kicked her luggage and verbally abused her. When an RPF policeman came to the rescue of the passenger he was also reprimanded.
Still worse the said RPF personnel was handed over the transfer order for having the temerity to interfere when the woman passenger was subjected to ill-treatment.
According to sources, Mariammal the woman passenger arrived at Coimbatore Railway Station and boarded the Alappuzha- Dhanbad Express on the day of the incident.
TTE Padmakumar asked Mariammal for her ticket for which she replied that her ticket was with her husband in the next coach. TTR then forced Mariammal out of the train.
When Mariammal pleaded that she would get her ticket from her husband in the next compartment she was verbally abused and her luggage was kicked by the TTE.
Upon witnessing this ill-treatment meted out a woman passenger an RPF policeman Veeramuthu intervened and advised the TTE not be harsh with the passengers.
To this, TTE Padmakumar had retaliated to the cop and threatened him with dire consequence for interfering in his duty. The video footage of the incident was released in several social media forums and investigations were also on.
The Railway authorities though initiated no disciplinary action against the erring TTE had transferred the RPF policeman for interfering in the ugly incident.
The said RPF officer, who is a good Samaritan has been a service- oriented one and he has safely returned valuable items misplaced by the passengers in the past.
In one of the notable incident is where he returned 25 sovereigns of gold to its owner who had misplaced the parcel in the recent months. .
He has also returned Rs.12,500 cash dropped in the station and over 9 costly mobiles to its owners and received the high regard of the public for returning valuables worth 10 lakhs to its owners.
The astute police officer has now been transferred to Madurai division as a punishment for intervening in the incident with the TTR.
Reacting to his transfer RPF Police Officer Veeramuthu said, “I still have two and half years of service. But due to some pressure tactic, I am being transferred. Already I am working away from my native place, which is Salem. Now the transfer to Madurai is more than stressful for me. It is saddening to receive this transfer order as a sort of punishment for a good deed done to save a passenger from ill-treatment. . I sincerely request the Railway authorities to withdraw the transfer order ".
“Even though TTE association has supported the erring TTE, the golden-hearted RPF constable was victimized in the incident.” Say, social activists.
