Heavy rains in Kerala have played havoc and loss of lives and property was immense in the recent bout of monsoon rains and the situation was a repeat of the last year’s floods which afflicted Kerala.
Not only humans but animals have also been equally affected due to the heavy monsoon rains.

Until last month only a few bats were found near the Military camp in Wellington, Coonoor. However, the bats migrating to the hills have increased phenomenally and the colony of bats have returned to the same places with dense trees as their roosting places.

In the meanwhile concerns about the Nipah virus spread by bats have also raised by some locals.
However, a Public Health official clarified “There are no incidence of any spread of virus found as yet. When the higher officials return from Delhi, a detailed meeting will be held on the same and we will monitor the situation".
