Coimbatore : A 21-year-old girl committed suicide in a private apartment near Ramanathapuram here on September 8. 

Pavithra (21) daughter of Antony, a resident of Thalavady Simitahalli, near Sathyamangalam, Erode district was living in a rented house with few other women.

Meanwhile, during the weekend, while her roommates had left to their native place, Pavithra hanged herself in the room and died. 

As the house remained locked from inside for long, the neighbours fell suspicious and banged on the door which elicited no response.

However, they found Pavithra dead when they peeped through the keyhole. The girl had reportedly hanged herself using her salwar dupatta.

The Ramanathapuram police who arrived at the scene recovered and sent the body to CMCH. The suicide of a young woman created a flutter in the area.
