Coimbatore : Protesting against the Kerala Government for its poor water management in Siruvani reservoir, the Thanthi Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has planned a protest in which KSTC buses entering Tamil Nadu would be blockaded.

TPDK has General Secretary K. Ramakrishnan addressing the media said that “ the protest against the Kerala government would be staged on September 10 by stopping the entry of Kerala buses into Tamil Nadu for not maintaining the storage to its full capacity in Siruvani dam.

"Kerala Government has been maintaining only 42 feet in Siruvani even though the dam has the capacity to store 50 feet. As Siruvani is the most important source of drinking water for people of Coimbatore, this would lead to scarcity in the summer months. The Kerala Government is bent upon cheating the people of Tamil Nadu by doing this disservice to Tamilnadu” Ramakrishnan noted.

"There dam reaching its full capacity would not pose any problem to the Kerala side as it reached full capacity for three times last year alone” Ramakrishnan noted.

” The Tamil Nadu Government should initiate talks to prevent wastage of precious water. Political parties have expressed their solidarity for the protest and blocking the KSTC buses entering Tamilnadu” he further added.
