The Nilgiris : For the second consecutive day, as excess water from Pykara Dam has been released, the Nilgiris district administration has issued warning to the people living in low-lying areas near Moyar river, Masinagudi.
According to reports, excess water at the rate of 1756 cubic feet per second is being released from Pykara Dam which presently is brimming at it's full capacity. Likewise, 1056 cubic feet of water per second is being released from the Glenmorgan dam. The release of excess water has resulted in flooding of Moyar river which flows through the Mudumalai tiger reserve.
Hence, the Masinagudi panchayat has issued flood alert to the people living near the banks of the river. "The alert will continue, until further announcement", notified the district administration.
