Coimbatore : A CCTV footage of a police vehicle knocking down a 55-year-old woman to death near Raja Street has sent shock waves across the city Police personnel were deployed in Raja Street, Thernilai Thidal for to extend security to Ganapathi Visarjan procession .
The police bus that took the police personnel to the area was also seen in the video.
An older woman who was trying to cross the road from one end to another was knocked down by the approaching police bus as the bus driver has not noticed the old woman crossing the road.
The woman who got trapped in the bus wheels had died on the spot. The entire incident has been recorded in a CCTV surveillance camera installed nearby.
Raja Street police are investigating the accident and the identity of the deceased the woman has been established as Kala (55), a resident of Perur.
It is said that the older woman, who was working at a puffed rice shop in Range Gounder Street had met with the accident when she got down from the bus and tried to cross the road to go to work.
