Coimbatore : The District Congress party staged an agitation in front of the south taluk office condemning the arrest and incarceration of former Union Minister P.Chidambaram

Led by former Thondamuthur MLA MN Kandasamy the Congress cadres called it an act of Political vendetta.

Party members participated in the protest and raised slogans against the vindictive Modi- led Centre.

It may be noted that former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, who is a Rajya Sabha member now has been alleged of committing offences under Prevention of Corruption Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act in respect to INX Media investments.

Both the CBI and Enforcement Directorate have filed cases against him in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Presently the senior congressman is under CBI custody and is cooling his heels in Tihar jail while addressing the media MN Kandasamy said, "It is illegal to arrest a person who is not on the list of accused persons in the case.

It is clearly an act of political vendetta by the Centre to investigate P. Chidambaram for 15 days and imprison him for 14 days. Former Minister Sivakumar of Karnataka was arrested a few days back.

H.Raja in connection with this has commented more such arrests are to be made. Passing anti-social comments like this has become a habit of H.Raja. I am not interested to answer for his comments".
