Coimbatore : PMK party cadres led by District Deputy General Secretary Raghupathi petitioned the District Collector K.Rajamani urging him to take stringent action against the liquor shops that sell liquor beyond set hours against the norms.

The petitioner has stated that the liquor shops are violating the norms set by the Government and doesn't follow the stipulated time schedule prescribed for sales. (12 pm to 10 pm) as fixed by the Government
“Sales is being carried out round the clock and in all 24 hours of a day and on holidays too the outlets function” stated the petitioner.

Raghupathi noted that his party will fight hard on this issue and urge the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to permanently close down liquor shops that don't stick to the operational hours.
“Due to this, college students and workers get tipsy and drunk driving and road accidents are on the rise” the petitioner noted.
