The Police Department and the Department of Food Safety got a tip-off that smuggled gutka items were stored in a car belonging to Manikandan, a resident of 7th street, Anjugam Nagar, Chinnavedampatti, Ganapathy.
Upon receiving information, the Saravanampatti police on the orders of Inspector Selvaraj and under the supervision of Tamilselvan, Appointing Officer, Department of Food Safety confiscated about 1250 kg of banned gutka items from the car. Officials of the Department of Food Safety stated that the seized tobacco products had been sent for analysis and action would be taken after the inspection.
