Every year, on the third day after Ganesh Chaturthi, the sanctified idols are taken on a procession and then immersed in the water bodies. About 60 Ganesha statues were taken on a procession and immersed on behalf of the Hindu Vishwa Parishad and Shiva Sena party in Ooty. 220 statues were taken on a procession to Kamaraj Sagar Dam via Charring Cross, Ooty Market, Central Bus Stand, Finger Post and will be immersed around 7 pm.
Similarly, a procession will begin from the Coonoor Sims Park and reach Laws Waterfalls in Kateri, for immersion, via Mount Road and bus stand. The statues will be immersed at night. Over 500 devotees took part in the procession, with 500 police officials deployed to provide security cover for the procession.
