Coimbatore: 'Shantipex 2019,' a district-level philatelic exhibition on behalf of the Coimbatore Postal Division began today at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Technopark to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary. The exhibition will be on from September 5 to 7.
Coimbatore: 'Shantipex 2019,' a district-level philatelic exhibition on behalf of the Coimbatore Postal Division began today at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Technopark to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary. The exhibition will be on from September 5 to 7.
The exhibition was inaugurated today by Sheuli Burman, Postmaster General, Western Region, Coimbatore who also digitally launched 'Shantipex 2019' and delivered the presidential address. Dr. Sudhir Gopal Jakhere, Sr. Superintendent of Post Offices, Coimbatore Division welcomed the gathering. Durga Charan Dash, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax delivered the keynote address while a felicitation speech was delivered by D Muruganandan, Sr. AGM (S&D), The Hindu, Coimbatore. T Sakthivel Murugan, Superintendent of Postal Stores Depot delivered the vote of thanks.
The first day covered Khadi, Aagar Coin Society, Release of Philatelic Passport and Pack of Postcards on 'Rewind Coimbatore - A Journey through the lens of The Hindu.' A total of 13 philatelic stalls and over 25 non-philatelic stalls were displayed. More than 150 exhibits were displayed in more than 150 frames. The aim of this philately exhibition was to educate school students on Philately.
About 700 students and members of the public visited the exhibition. Various competitions like drawing, letter writing and quiz were also conducted for school students.
