While 159 idols were immersed in the Singanallur, Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur lakes in the city, as many as 1350 idols were immersed in Pollachi, Mettupalayam, Thudiyalur and Sirumugai, which fall under the purview of Coimbatore District Police.
In order to ensure safety, 750 police personnel were deployed in the city under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police, L. Balaji Saravanan and 1800 police personnel were deployed in the district under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Sujith Kumar.
1200 policemen were deployed in Mettupalayam alone. Along with city and district police, personnel of the Special Task Force and Rapid Action Force were also deployed.
