Coimbatore: The Ganapathi idols which were sanctified and worshipped in the city on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi were taken in a procession and are being immersed today in Visarjana ceremony.

More than 2,000 City police personnel are deployed to enhance security measures and they are seen manning the entire route of the procession.
The statues which have been taken in procession in vehicles in a celebratory manner will be immersed after special pooja was performed on the banks of the pond before immersing.
About 28, Ganapathi statues are being immersed in the pond near the high school in Kuniamuthur.
The security arrangements are supervised by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Balaji Saravanan and around 100 police personnel led by Assistant Commissioner Chandrasekar has been deployed.
Other arrangements for immersing the statues of the idols are being done in coordination with City Corporation, Police and Fire departments.
