Last Tuesday, social activists organised an awareness program on child sexual abuse in schools around Sundappalayam. The 'Good Touch' and 'Bad Touch' was explained to the students as part of this awareness program.
Two girls aged 9 and 11 who underwent the awareness program at their school reported to the social activists about the sexual abuse they had been subjected to by an elderly man. Following this, teachers and social activists lodged a complaint at the Perur All Women Police Station to take immediate action against the perpetrator who had sexually abused the children.
The perpetrator was identified as Perumalsamy (72). On further investigation, it was revealed that he had sexually abused the two minor girls in his farmhouse at Sundappalayam in Coimbatore. The police have booked Perumalsamy under the POCSO Act and put him behind bars.
