Even as the Ganesh Chaturthi festival is being celebrated across the city, various temples have organised special poojas on the occasion to which thousand of devotees have congregated form all over the city.
Similarly, various organisations including BJP, Hindu Munnani, Hindu Makkal Katchi, Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bharath Sena, have organised Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with the sanctified idols of Lord Ganesha in various parts of the city.

The idols of Lord Ganesha have been satisfied behalf of the political parties and the general public. Additional police have been deployed to protect the temples such as Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, Puliakulam Mundhi Vinayagar Temple, Marudhamalai Temple and Koniamman Temple.
More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed for providing fool proof security across the city owing to the red alert issued by the Intelligence bureau pointing to planned terror plots on the occasion of Ganesh Chathruthi.
