Meanwhile, on Saturday when he was walking in Ayyapan Nagar on College road he was hacked to death with an axe by three unidentified men who came in two-wheelers.
The gang attacked him brutally in front of the public with deadly weapons and escaped in a two-wheeler. Balamurugan, who sustained grievous injuries collapsed on the spot and succumbed.
A police team (North Tirupur) led by Uma, Commissioner of Police, Tirupur District rushed to the crime spot and retrieved the body of Balamurugan and sent it for autopsy. A case has been filed and investigations are on.
