Coimbatore: Of the five projects nominated from Coimbatore for SKOCH awards 2019, 24x7 water supply project by the Coimbatore City and Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has won silver, under Governance category.
While, three other projects, 'No dumping', 'Model Government School' by Coimbatore Corporation (Masakaalipalayam High school) and 'Coimbatore Climate Change' received SKOCH 'Order of Merit' certificates.
Instituted in 2003, SKOCH Awards is the highest honour in the country conferred by an independent organisation. It recognises people, projects and institutions that go an extra mile to make India a better nation.
Under the governance category, 24x7 water supply project by Coimbatore Corporation has been awarded Silver and the other three projects from Coimbatore won SKOCH Order-of-Merit Award which would be accorded to meritorious nominees from across the country in a particular category.
SKOCH Order-of-Merit is decided based on the average Jury score + Popular Vote weight-age. All top performers are conferred the SKOCH Order-of-Merit Award. Around, 150 nominations are conferred the SKOCH Order-of-Merit.
The Process
Nominees submit their documentation in a prescribed nomination format, which goes through a vetting process based on desk and secondary research followed by an evaluation presentation to the jury of domain experts.
Post the evaluation presentation, all the nominees are invited to participate in a popular online vote with the objective of seeking satisfactory performance inputs from their beneficiaries and other stakeholders. This is an online process and involves use of Twitter.
