Coimbatore: Forest personnel of the Coimbatore Range conducted post mortem on the Caracas of the female elephant that died in Mankarai on Friday.
The elephant aged around 20 succumbed to sickness despite a veterinary team treating her for more than eight hours.
She had collapsed around 9.00 am on Friday while roaming with a sub adult aged around three. Despite treatment, the elephant succumbed around 5.30 and a post mortem was done in the early hours on Saturday.
The carcass was later buried on patta land.
