With child sexual abuse cases being on the rise in Coimbatore district, the haunting memory of the 7-year old minor girl in Pannimadai, near Thudiyalur who was sexually abused and murdered has still not faded away. Thereon, the city police have maintained a strict vigil on child predators and booked many under the POCSO Act, thus far.

Senthil Prabhu (34), a resident in the Town Hall area had reportedly lured a 6-year old near his home with chocolates and reportedly sexually harassed her. The girl reported the incident to her parents who filed a case against Senthil Prabhu. The case was registered in the All Women's Police Station under the POCSO Act.
With regard to another similar incident, the city police are looking for an unidentified person who has a case booked against him under the POCSO Act, for sexually harassing a 7-year old when she was on the way from her school in Irugur area.
In another incident, Palanisamy (60), a resident of Othakalmandapam was booked under the POCSO Act by the Perur All Women's Police for luring a 3-year old with a biscuit packet and sexually harassing her.
