'Society For Smart E-mobility' to be launched; aims to promote manufacture of electric vehicles and components in Coimbatore

Coimbatore : With increasing concern over air pollution in our cities due to expanding vehicle base, there is an urgent need to look at better ways to manage transportation by introduction of electric vehicles and implementing concepts like connected and shared mobility. Understanding the above need, the Government of India has identified and introduced various policy measures to promote E-Mobility.

Coimbatore : With increasing concern over air pollution in our cities due to expanding vehicle base, there is an urgent need to look at better ways to manage transportation by introduction of electric vehicles and implementing concepts like connected and shared mobility. Understanding the above need, the Government of India has identified and introduced various policy measures to promote E-Mobility. 

To address this cause and to promote development of technologies and products in EV sector, particularly small and medium enterprises, a new forum namely 'Society For Smart E-mobility' has been formed in Coimbatore.

This forum is all set to be launched on August 31 at the Residency Towers by Tamil Nadu Transport Secretary, Dr. J. Radhakrishnan, IAS and Additional Commissioner for Industries and Commerce, T.P. Rajesh, IAS.

According to one of the Founder Patrons of the forum, K. Ramasamy, Chairman, Roots Group of Companies, "Coimbatore has the right eco-system to be the hub for development of electric vehicles and components. Recent announcement of FAME II policy by the Central Government will provide a boost for indigenisation of electric vehicles and components. This New Forum has got Industries, Engineering Institutions, Technocrats and Students as its members."

The objectives of the Forum are: 

To establish a platform to connect all Stakeholders in the Smart E-Mobility domain. 

To facilitate setting up of manufacturing hubs, specific to electric vehicles and components. 

To collaborate with Research Institutions and be a catalyst for sharing knowledge and development of skills.

To be the messenger of industry needs and suggestion to the Government and the Regulatory Agencies
