Vishnu (19), son of Suresh from Poonga Nagar in Sundarapuram in his second year of under graduation studies at the Karpagam College in Eachanari was reportedly undergoing treatment for an illness and had not attended college for 15 days.
Students allege that the teacher had asked Vishnu to explain his long absence from college and had asked him to bring his parents. At the end of the first hour, Vishnu reportedly jumped off the second floor of his college building.
The college management informed the Madukarai police immediately and they arrived at the spot to take the body for autopsy at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. Police are investigating the cause for suicide with students, teachers and relatives. The suicide of a student in the college campus caused a stir among the students and teachers who were shell shocked.
