Madurai: The Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S P Velumani held a meeting for 19 municipalities and 73 panchayats in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts on the implementation of welfare schemes and rainwater harvesting systems.
Madurai: The Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Implementation of Special Programme, S P Velumani held a meeting for 19 municipalities and 73 panchayats in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts on the implementation of welfare schemes and rainwater harvesting systems.
Following this, Minister S P Velumani, Minister Sellur K Raja, Minister RB Udayakumar, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Director K Bhaskaran and other officials took an oath on rainwater harvesting at the Madurai World Tamil Heritage Centre. They also flagged of an awareness vehicle to highlight rainwater harvesting.
Later, S P Velumani inspected the Kudimaramathu work under the scheme announced by the Chief Minister in Poigaikaraipatti panchayat, Madurai East Zone in Madurai. The Minister also inspected the desilting work being done in the Chinna Ilanthaikulam at a budget of Rs.1 lakh.
The inspection data on the desilting of the Ilanthaikulam pond was immediately uploaded to the RRWB App by the Tamil Nadu Government to keep track of the proceedings of the Kudimaramathu project in Tamil Nadu.
The Minister for Co-operation Sellur K Raju, Minister Revenue R B Udayakumar, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department Additional Secretary Hansraj Verma, Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj K Bhaskaran, Madurai District Collector T S Rajasekar, Madurai North MLA V V Rajan Sellappa, Meloor MLA Periyapulaa (a) Selvam, Madurai East MLA P Moorthy and others were also present at the meeting.
