Coimbatore: With regard to the tragic accident in which Mohana Priya, a mother of two was hit by a lorry and died on the spot in Karumathampatti, the public and social activists slammed the negligence of labourers who had left construction materials used for repair of the bridge on service roads.

Social activists, students and the public gathered today to pay respect to Mohana Priya and lit candles in her memory, in Karumathampatti.
"The narrow service roads and the carelessness of the labourers are the reasons for Mohana Priya's death. All the service roads are 60m wide but the one at Karumathampatti is only 40m wide. The concerned department officials need to intervene and take immediate measures to rectify it and avert such tragedies hereon," opined the social activists.
They also warned of continual protests until the service roads are widened and necessary action is taken by the administration.
