This is a proof for the City's potential", lauded Dr. Mayilsamy Annadurai, Vice President- Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology.
Addressing a large gathering at the inauguration of the three-day 'National Science and Technology Fair - 2019' at CODISSIA trade fair complex on Thursday, he said "Unlearning will pave way for innovation. One has to be open for ideas and learn new things. Remember, if you are an innovator, you will be mocked at every stage but you should learn to overcome such hurdles and progress towards your goal."
He commended CODISSIA for providing an excellent platform for young entrepreneurs through this Science Fair which will inspire them to come up with great ideas. And, thus enable industries to identify such talents and products that can be scaled upon.
Dr. Mayilsamy Annadurai also recalled the journey of ISRO from its inception in 1969 to the current period. "From launching a satellite once in four years, ISRO has travelled a long journey to reach to it's present state of launching satellites every year. From Aryabhatta to Chandrayaan 2, ISRO has crossed mile stones that no country has ever touched. Chandrayaan 1 was the first mission to moon, which not only ascertained the presence of water but also created a water map of the moon."
Special Guest for the event, R. Panneer Selvam, Principal Director, Ministry of MSME stated that Government of India has been giving grants upto Rs. 50 lakh to innovators for product development.
"CODISSIA has been a trendsetter in the Industry. Our government is very aggressive about implementing entrepreneurship and embracing innovations and CODISSIA has been playing a big role in such areas", he opined.
R. Ramamurthy, President - CODISSIA exhorted that this is the first of its kind initiative by any Industrial association in the country where in such a national level fair has been organised entirely free of cost to the student community.
"As a social responsibility activity to drive schools and college students towards innovation and latest scientific advancements, CODISSIA has alloted a budget of Rs.1 crore for this three-day fair. This initiative is carried as a part of Golden Jubilee Celebrations of CODISSIA", added Ramamurthy.
He also opined that students can use this event as a platform to showcase their talents and products to industries who in turn can help them turn their ideas into real products.
The three-day National Science and Technology Fair- 2019 from August 29-31 will witness school and College students from various parts of the country including Kerala, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and others. Nearly 1100 exhibits from 76 schools and 80 colleges have been selected to take part in the exhibition.
C. Muthuswami, Chairman, National Science and Technology fair, R. Palaniswami, Chairman, CODISSIA Golden jubilee Commitee and members of the industry and hundreds of students from schools and colleges participated in the event.
The event is open to public and entry is free.
