Coimbatore: The All India Democratic Women's Association protested near the Periyar statue in Puliyakulam against 'Thuglak' editor, Swaminathan Gurumoorthy for his comment on women.
During his speech in a program organised by a private medical organisation in Mylapore in Chennai, Gurumoorthy is alleged to have commented on women saying that they are the most contributing members of the economy. He also alleged that English-speaking women and city life has changed women in today's society and then went on to say that only 30 percent of the women today are feminine.
The Marxist party strongly condemned Gurumoorthy's statement. Thereafter, the All India Democratic Women's Association also protested against Gurumoorthy by raising slogans. The East Zone President, Vanaja Natarajan, Secretary Sudha Raman and others participated in the protest.
