Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) is to host the National Science and Technology Fair - 2019 from August 29-31, at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) is to host the National Science and Technology Fair - 2019 from August 29-31, at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in Coimbatore.
Dr. Mayilswamy Annadurai, Vice President, Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology will inaugurate the Fair on August 29.
Addressing the media, Ramamurthy, President CODISSIA said, “This is the first-of-its-kind National Fair in the country. CODISSIA is organising this at a budget of Rs.1 crore to take innovations from the school and college levels to marketable commercial products. This will be a hand-holding process wherein students from schools and colleges who have an idea that could help industries can have their ideas translated into products, with the industries helping them in the process. Students can be entrepreneurs. The incubation centre coming up at CODISSIA can be used by these entrepreneurs. CODISSIA as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations has decided to conduct this Fair as part of its social responsibility,” he added.
C Muthuswami, Chairman, National Science and Technology Fair stated that there was an overwhelming response to the Fair from all over the country. "1300 entries were received, out of which 872 entries from 76 schools and 270 exhibits from 80 colleges were selected . Eminent institutes from all over the country including IIT Chennai , PSG Tech, Coimbatore Institute of Technology and Amrita University are participating in the Fair. A jury will validate the ideas and the selected ideas will receive cash awards up to Rs.2 lakhs,” he stated.
The Fair is expected to have 30000-40000 general and industrial visitors and 60000-70000 students. Entry to the fair is free.
