The protest was led by U.L Sivagnanam, District Vice president of Theendamai Olipu Munnani.
The protesters raised slogans urging immediate arrest against the fanatics who were involved in vandalising Dr. Ambedkar's statue in Vedaranyam.
Cadres and leaders of India Democratic Women association, Indian Democratic Youth Association, on Indian Students Association, All India Advocate Association and Tamil Nadu Murpoku Ezhuthaalar Sangam took part in the protest.
A statue of Dr Ambedkar was vandalised amid clashes between two groups in Vedaranyam. The incident took place in front of the police personnel deployed in and around the area to keep law & order in check and to control the tensions.
