The survey of lands for installing High tension transmission lines was carried out last week in Palladam area.. The farmers protested against installing HT lines through cultivable lands for which they were arrested.
The police team headed by Additional SP Gunasekaran who used force arrested the farmers and their family members.
Alleging police highhandedness, the farmers said that police who arrested the farmers and their families including women and children did not even allow them to use even the toilet.
Hence the farmers from Palladam submitted a petition to the Tirupur SP against police personnel, headed by Additional SP Gunasekaran.
High drama ensued when the farmers were not allowed to submit the petition to the SP . However, the farmers were allowed to meet the SP after they staged a dharna inside the SP office premises.
