Coimbatore: Over 20 passengers of a bus were injured when the bus toppled over a pit in Annur, Coimbatore. It is reported that the accident occurred when the Government bus driver had to swerve when a motorist on a two-wheeler collided into the bus.

The bus "TN 38 N 3034" plying from Sathyamangalam to Erode was nearing Annur via Puliampatti this morning carrying over 50 passengers. A motorist in a two-wheeler who was trying to cross across the road near Kariyampalayam, Annur collided into the bus. But Senthil, the driver of the Government bus who swerved to avoid the two-wheeler lost control of the bus which toppled over a pit, leaving 20 of the bus passengers severely injured.

Passers-by rushed the injured to the Annur Government Hospital with the assistance of the ambulance. Those who were slightly injured were given first aid at the Annur Government Hospital, while those severely injured were shifted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, Karupusamy, the motorist who collided into bus has also been admitted to a private hospital and is reportedly battling for life. The Annur police have registered a case and are investigating.
